one year party?

so evan turned one in march (let's not mention that it isn't march anymore.)  we had a fun party planned and he woke up from his nap with a fever, and we had to cancel it.  all of our would-be party guests got yummy goodies delivered to them, and we rescheduled for a week later.  a week later, ellen woke up with a fever.  yep, my life is fun and unpredictable.  (i am choosing that over chaotic and one step away from the looney bin.)  at least this year i got to drink lots of yummy grape soda. :)

april fool

davis was determined to april fool us this morning.  his few attempts made us smile and i want to remember his efforts. 
he jumped into bed with me and i was barely awake and he said, "oh, no mom, i think ellen wrote all over the ceiling fan.  she must have gotten a ladder."  i was so out of it that i just told him no or something, and he said "aw man, that was an april fool's". 
then he told joel that his front tooth that was a permanent tooth looked loose and it might fall out.
then, before lane was awake, davis made a big plan to april fool lane.  (who is completely unaware of what april fools even is.)  he was going to wait until lane got up, and then tell him that today is march 31st and there was one more day until april fool's day, and you can play tricks on each other, but it would have to be tomorrow, since today is march 31st.  after davis explained his trick to me and joel he said, "get it?  DAY CONFUSION!!"  this made me laugh so much because almost every day of the week i have day confusion, and it's not because i am being april fooled. 
this was funny to watch davis actually try to april fool lane.  he might as well have tried to explain it to evan, which was funny because it was so overexplained and lane didn't appreciate it in the least. 
davis is such a funny thinker.  he is a blessing to me.

here is what we did for d's valentines this year.  he really liked them. i had to stop telling the kids to make fists in the picture above, because now, taking a valentine picture means putting your fist up in the air.
