april fool

davis was determined to april fool us this morning.  his few attempts made us smile and i want to remember his efforts. 
he jumped into bed with me and i was barely awake and he said, "oh, no mom, i think ellen wrote all over the ceiling fan.  she must have gotten a ladder."  i was so out of it that i just told him no or something, and he said "aw man, that was an april fool's". 
then he told joel that his front tooth that was a permanent tooth looked loose and it might fall out.
then, before lane was awake, davis made a big plan to april fool lane.  (who is completely unaware of what april fools even is.)  he was going to wait until lane got up, and then tell him that today is march 31st and there was one more day until april fool's day, and you can play tricks on each other, but it would have to be tomorrow, since today is march 31st.  after davis explained his trick to me and joel he said, "get it?  DAY CONFUSION!!"  this made me laugh so much because almost every day of the week i have day confusion, and it's not because i am being april fooled. 
this was funny to watch davis actually try to april fool lane.  he might as well have tried to explain it to evan, which was funny because it was so overexplained and lane didn't appreciate it in the least. 
davis is such a funny thinker.  he is a blessing to me.

happy valentine's day from the kiddos.  (and me, even though i am not in the picture.)

here is what we did for d's valentines this year.  he really liked them. i had to stop telling the kids to make fists in the picture above, because now, taking a valentine picture means putting your fist up in the air.

i am not complaining, because at least she is dressed.

my latest project

you know, the one i started in october and finished in january?  that one.

so, i saw this idea on a couple of blogs that i read (i will be glad to share which ones if you want to know, just don't want to have any weirdo mommy crafter searchers ending up on my blog)  i've seen them called 'family rules', but i don't know, maybe it's the teacher in me that feels like rules need to have consequences, and i am not going to discipline for not having patience.  it is a good thing, or i would be in the corner all day long.  so i made ours full of things that all of us parkers need to remember daily.  the parker family will...

now, some of these i swiped, some of these i just asked the boys what i tell them to do all of the time.  they had a lot of things to put on there.

one of the reasons it took me so long to complete this, is i got started and then realized that i measured my papers wrong.  i did the first three strips of paper, and had to stop and re-do.  the next time i sat down to re-do was a few months later.  davis saw the mess ups and asked if he could have the one that said 'the parker family will...'  he said he had an idea.  he wrote it and then asked if i could "make it look cool with the lines on the ends of the letters."  this was his idea:

it now has a permanent home behind my computer so that i can see it all of the time.  and no, i don't tell them to do this one all the time.  he came up with it all by himself.
